Bengaluru: The senior citizen daycare centres that had been closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic may reopen soon in districts across the State.
According to sources, the Health Department is seriously considering reopening this after the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) gave its approval and stated that it has been over a year and that elders have asked that they be reopened.
The TAC stated that the centres may be opened in Taluks with a weekly Test Positivity Rate of less than 1 per cent.
The senior citizens were given refreshments, and their nutrition was taken care of by the centres. However, the pandemic had compelled them to return to their homes.
Only individuals who have received a double dose of vaccination should be permitted, and that thermal scanning, as well as screening for cough, cold, difficulty breathing, and other symptoms, should be done at the entrance. If they are found with symptoms, they should seek medical attention right away. Face masks should be mandatory, as should the use of sanitiser, maintaining physical distance, and well-lit halls.
Their meals must be freshly prepared and served hot on disposable plates with spoons. Hot drinking water should only be offered to them. Those with comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, and others should see a doctor regularly to keep their condition under control. However, if the weekly TPR in the taluks exceeds 2 per cent, the centres should be stopped immediately because the attendees are high-risk.
