Bengaluru: On Monday, when Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was celebrating the first anniversary of his government in Bengaluru, his deputy, transport minister Laxman Savadi was busy meeting party senior leaders in New Delhi. This raised several questions as Savadi is considered as the blue-eyed boy of the RSS leaders from the state.
Savadi, who lost from Athani constituency in the 2018 assembly election was made DCM in the BSY government. His selection to the cabinet and DCM post surprised many. However, later it was confirmed that RSS leaders including BL Santosh, party national general secretary are behind his elevation. RSS leaders are trying to project him as the party’s future face as he is from the dominant Lingayat community like BSY.
On Monday he met senior party leaders including BL Santosh in New Delhi. As the news broke out, Savadi himself clarified that he travelled to New Delhi with the permission of CM BS Yediyurappa.
He made it clear that his New Delhi visit on the first anniversary of the BSY government is just a coincidence.
According to the sources, Savadi met Santosh and held a discussion with him for over 45 minutes. Later he also met several union ministers including Prakash Javdekar.
“I visited national capital to discuss pending projects including procurement of the electric buses for the BMTC, road safety-related issues etc,” he stated.
