Bengaluru: Residents of the BTM layout were shocked on Thursday morning when they saw thousands of dead snails and fish floating on the banks of the Madiwala Lake. According to reports, residents have blamed this phenomenon on the rising levels of pollution, but the Forest Department called it a natural one.
The residents commented that they had never seen such an incident before and that the sewage entering the lake from the nearby stormwater drain could be the cause of this.
Regarding this, the officials commented that even though sewage has entered the lake, they couldn’t conclude anything at the moment and that when rainwater enters the lake some creatures survive and some do not.
A similar incident took place last week when around a thousand fish were found dead in Kalkere Lake in Horimavu and again residents blamed this incident on sewage flow and poor maintenance by the BBMP.
