In a chilling case from south Bengaluru, a man identified as Rakesh Khedekar, employed as a senior project coordinator at a private firm, admitted to fatally stabbing his wife, Gouri Sambrekar, 32, and concealing her body in a suitcase before fleeing. The murder took place on the night of March 26 at their residence in Doddakammanahalli, near Hulimavu.
Rakesh was apprehended on April 2. During police questioning, he revealed that constant humiliation directed at his parents and sister by Gouri had deeply affected him. “She often belittled my family both in public and at home,” Rakesh reportedly confessed.
According to his statement, the couple had moved to Bengaluru from Mumbai hoping for a fresh start. Gouri, however, remained unemployed for a month and wanted to return, leading to frequent altercations. On the day of the crime, they took a walk, purchased liquor and snacks, and returned home by 7:30 pm.
As they drank and played music—each taking turns—an argument sparked when Gouri teased him over a Marathi song’s lyrics about a father-son bond. Irritated, Rakesh pushed her. She retaliated by throwing a kitchen knife at him while shouting insults. Consumed by anger, he stabbed her thrice—twice in the neck and once in the stomach.
Gouri had been packing to leave for Mumbai. After confirming her death, Rakesh placed her body in the emptied suitcase, cleaned the scene, and abandoned the house around 12:45 am. He was later caught in Shirwal, Maharashtra.
