Debt-ridden man kidnaps brother; demands Rs 5 crore

Bengaluru: A 25-year-old man abducted his younger brother and demanded Rs 5 crore from his father. The incident took place at The Byatarayanapura police limits.

Harish Kumar Jain, a resident of RPC layout in Vijaya Nagar is the arrested.

According to police sources, Harish Kumar was taking care of his family’s jewellery shop with his younger brother Amit Kumar. Harish, an alcoholic, was in debt and hence planned to extort money by plotting the kidnapping of his own brother.

Harish and his friend Mohammed Moinuddin Waseem, an employee of a medical store along with few others kidnapped Amit on December 7. Waseem called
Amit’s father informing him of the abduction and demanded the money.

Amit’s father informed the police, who verified the call records and nabbed Waseem which later led to the arrest of Harish.

During the questioning, the accused confessed to the crime and the police team located Amit and rescued him.

R. Hemanth Kumar, Inspector of Byatarayanapura said that the manhunt is on to nab other associates of Harish who were involved in the crime.
