Bengaluru: For the first time in the state, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will present a children’s budget along with the main budget on March 5. With this, Karnataka will be the fourth state to present a children’s budget, after Kerala, Bihar and Assam.
According to the sources, the state finance department started discussions with the various stakeholders on the children’s budget. The department is receiving feedback from the stakeholders on the various targets and initiatives required to find a solution to the challenges faced by the children. Special emphasis is likely to be given for education and nutrition, besides achieving the learning levels in the schools.
Other focus areas include eradication of child labour, eliminating child marriage, child trafficking and ensuring free education for all.
