Bengaluru: A 30-year-old employee of Bengaluru Merto Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has committed suicide by hanging at the metro quarters at Sunkadakatte in Kamakshiplaya police station limits on Thursday.

The police have identified the deceased as Santosh Kumar, who worked in BMRCL’s operation and maintenance department and was deployed at the Vidhana Soudha station and the Baiyappanahalli depot.

The police said that Santosh has left behind a suicide note stating that he committed suicide as he was depressed that the Chandra Layout police had recently summoned him in connection with the missing case connected to a female colleague. In the note, he mentioned that the BMRCL management is also responsible for his extreme step.

However, the metro union alleged that harassment at the work place led him to take the extreme step.

The police have taken up a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
