Devanahalli: Ambedkar Sena Protests Against Statue Vandalism
Bengaluru: Ambedkar Sena officials staged a protest on Sunday, alleging that miscreants had attempted to deface the statues of Buddha, Basava, and Ambedkar near Rani Circle in the town late on Saturday night.
According to P. Murthy, the state president of the organisation, the statues were located on land belonging to Dalits who were engaged in agriculture. He suspected that the vandalism was motivated by the land’s high value, suggesting that the perpetrators were trying to intimidate the landowners.
CCTV footage captured the incident, showing hooded miscreants smashing flower pots near the statues. The Ambedkar Sena demanded the immediate arrest of those involved.
Narayanappa, a local resident, stated that his family had been living on the land for ten years and had faced numerous threats and attempts to create legal disputes. He expressed fear for his family’s safety and pleaded for protection.
The protest was attended by several Ambedkar Sena leaders, including Mahalakshmi, the state president of the women’s unit, and Rayasandra Somu, the taluk unit president.
