Bengaluru: It is now official. All four Rajya Sabha candidates from the state have been elected to their seats unopposed.
Veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda, BJP candidates Ashok Gasti and Eranna Kadadi ran unopposed and by default, won the elections.
This will be Deve Gowda’s second stint as a Rajya Sabha MP. He first entered the Rajya Sabha in 1996 after becoming Prime Minister. For other candidates, this is their maiden stint.
As per the Election Commission’s notification, voting was scheduled to be held on June 19 if more than four candidates were in the fray for the four seats. However, as none of the candidates had any opposition, they have all been elected to their respective seats.all are elected unopposed.
