Bengaluru: During first week of April, Padarayanapura was dubbed as the Dharavi of Karnataka. Widespread allegations, and counter allegations were made against a section of people and leaders saying they are not helping the BBMP in its efforts to contain the spread of Covid 19.
Attack on the BBMP officers by a group of people added fuel to fire. Local corporator Imran Pasha was arrested for violating the lockdown rules. Later, he was tested positive. The chain of events brought bad name to the entire area.
However, two months later, the situation has entirely changed. The BBMP is able to arrest the spread of Covid 19 in this area, which witnessed 90 Covid 19 cases. Over the last ten days not even a single new case has been reported, which is an encouraging development.
Padarayanapura has a population of 21,578. The number of households are 6,254. On June 21, the BBMP removed the containment tag from the area.
According to the locals, awareness and the BBMP action helped them to come out of Covid-19 fear. They thanked the BBMP for helping them to win the war against Covid-19.
According to Imran Pasha, today Padarayanapura ward is a model ward because of the efforts of all. “Please don’t blame any single community for the spread of Covid 19. Let us all work together,” he appealed.
