Bengaluru: State Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar has said that the disqualified legislators can file their nominations for the upcoming by-polls based on certain conditions.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, September 24, he said, “There will be by-elections in 15 Assembly constituencies of the state and the disqualified legislators can file their nominations, if the Supreme Court allows it.”

“Advocates representing the Election Commission were present in the court hall while the arguments of the disqualified MLAs and former speaker Ramesh Kumar were ongoing. The EC’s advocates informed the court that there is no objection to the disqualified legislators contesting in the upcoming by-polls,” he added.

Meanwhile, refraining from answering any further questions on the disqualified legislator’s contesting in the by-elections, Sanjeev Kumar said, “As the matter is still in the court, it will be not ethical for me to speak of it any further.”
