District administrations to start ash immersion of Covid – 19 victims in Karnataka

Bengaluru: After mass immersion of ash of Covid 19 victims from Bengaluru in the river Cauvery, the state government has now directed the district administrations of every district to carry out such a drive.

According to the order, if the relatives do not collect the ash within 15 days’ time, the ash should be collected from crematoriums and immersed in the holy river of each districts.

Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner and tahsildars are asked to carry out this drive.

According to the authorities, this decision has been taken as per the existing rituals followed by a majority of Hindus. 

On Thursday, revenue minister R Ashok visited several temples after immersing ash in river Cauvery in Malavalli taluk in Mandya district.
