Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has stated that BJP is trying to to invoke governor’s rule in the state, labeling them as deceptive tactics aimed at fabricating a collapse in law and order. He said that the Congress party will thwart any such attempts by the BJP.
Speaking to reporters, DK Shivakumar said the law-and-order situation is robust in the state. He dismissed BJP’s claims and linking murder of Neha Hiremath in Hubballi to a breakdown in law and order is just a conspiracy to destabilize the government.
Shivakumar assured that the police are conducting a fair and unbiased investigation into the case, said that the perpetrators will face legal consequences as per the law.
Responding to former CM Basavaraj Bommai’s comparison of Karnataka to Bihar, Shivakumar highlighted that while incidents like the one in Hubballi may occur due to personal disputes all the time, the state’s law and order infrastructure remains resilient.
Former Afzhalpur MLA Malikayya Guttedar and Sharada Mohan Shetty joined the Congress party in the presence of Shivakumar, signaling a surge in support.
Shivakumar anticipated a lackluster performance for the BJP in the forthcoming general elections, suggesting that they would not secure 200 seats nationally and would struggle to win double-digit seats in southern states. He attributed the BJP’s focus on forming alliances to their acknowledgment of their diminished standing.
