Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President has taken strong exception to the statement made by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai that ‘farmers’ protest at Delhi is a sponsored one’. Further, he warned CM of agitation on streets if he does not apologise for the statement.
DKS was speaking to media persons on Monday September 20 near Vidhana Soudha here. He said that the farmers’ protest was a protest demanding for their rights and it is not right for the CM to make such loose statements. Further, this is a protest with good intention and represents the entire farmer population of India and not only of the farmers who are present at the protest site, he asserted and added that worldwide support for the protest is the proof of the same.
“In this backdrop, the CM is stating that the protest is sponsored. And, thus I would like to ask if the protest is sponsored, then who is the sponsor? BJP, Congress and no other parties have sponsored the agitation. Hence, the protest is a rightful one and the farmers are protesting for their rights. Why Centre has not heard their plea,” he questioned.
Finally, he asserted that the protest is not sponsored and that the Congress supports this rightful protest of the farmers and their interests.
