DKShi booked for ignoring notices to remove ad banner

Bengaluru: Minister D K Shivakumar has been booked by Bengaluru Police for allegedly ignoring a formal ban that was issued regarding an advertisement banner.

Based on a complaint filed by Muthuraj, an assistant revenue officer of R R Nagar Zone of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), a case has been registered against DKShi by the Byatarayanapura police.

The FIR has been filed under Karnataka Open Place Disfigurement Act 1951 and 1981 sections 3 (unauthorised disfigurement by advertisement) and 5 (punishment for abettors), Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act 1976 sections 233 and 285 (prohibition against obstruction to streets), and IPC Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Reportedly, the minister had ignored the notices that were served to him by the BBMP on August 13, 15, 30 and September 1 in connection with the advertisement banner that was installed by him at Pantapalya off the Mysore Road.
