Bengaluru: On the second day of the joint session of the Karnataka legislative bodies, Congress leader and legislator D K Shivakumar met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa at his office in the Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday, February 18.
It is reported that DKShi met CM BSY to ask him to allot the necessary funds for a medical college to be built in Kanakapura, his constituency.
During the meeting, DKShi reportedly showed the CM the previous State Budget copy urging for the release of funds towards the construction of the medical college.
It can be recalled that when the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) state coalition government was in power for a period of 14 months, the then Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had approved the construction of a medical college in Kanakapura. After the downfall of the coalition government and after B S Yediyurappa becoming the Chief Minister, he decided to have the medical college constructed in Chikkaballapur, based on pressure from state medical education minister Dr Sudhakar.
Enraged by this, DKShi had said that he will fight for the medical college to be built in Kanakapura itself.
