Bengaluru: Jailed Congress strongman from the state DK Shivakumar spent an entire night on Thursday in Jail number 7, inside the Tihar Jail. Jail Number 7 is specially allotted for the economic offenders, who are in judicial custody or facing trial. It is the same place where former union finance minister P Chidambaram (Cell no 15) has been lodged. Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, British businessman and AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel and corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar too are lodged in the very same jail.
DKShi’s brother DK Suresh had tried to meet him on Friday morning, but the permission was denied, say sources. Meanwhile, it is said that Shivakumar will be served dal, roti, vegetables and rice for lunch and dinner. For breakfast, he will be served dalia, biscuits and tea. Court has instructed the authorities to take proper care of DK Shivakumar’s health while he is in jail.
On the other hand, ED authorities quizzed Lakshmi Hebbalkar, his close associate, on various investments she has made. She denied any wrongdoing in the entire process. “Nayana, daughter of former minister C Mottamma accompanied Hebbalkar,” said Congress leaders.
