Bengaluru: Congress strongman DK Shivakumar aka DKShi will appear for questioning in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today in New Delhi in connection to an alleged money laundering case. He will be accompanied by his advocate Kapil Sibal, a senior Congress leader.
It can be recalled that on Thursday the Kannada High Court declined to stay the ED summons issues against DKShi and four of his associates. The ED had issued fresh summons to the Congress leader on Thursday and asked him to appear before it at 10.30 am on Friday. However, Shivakumar has informed the agency that he would be late and would come post noon.
The alleged money laundering came to light after raids by the tax sleuths on the premises of Shivakumar in Bengaluru, Kanakapura and New Delhi on August 2, 2017. The sleuths have seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 8.59 crore, with no evidence on its source.
When the news of DKShi appearing before the ED broke, supporters gathered outside his residence and addressing them the leader said that the supporters need not worry as he has not committed rape.
