Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president DK Shivakumar, on Tuesday, announced that he would be traveling the “length and breadth of Karnataka”, to meet the common man soon after the lockdown is lifted.
The Congress leader announced the same through a statement released on Twitter.

“Immediately after the lockdown is lifted and when there is permission to travel, I will be undertaking a Yatra and travel the length and breadth of Karnataka, meeting the common man whose trials and tribulations should be heard and redressed,” he wrote.
Empathising with those who have been struggling due to the lockdown that has been in force since March 24, he added that the Congress party believes that they are here to “serve the comman man and to stand for the weaker sections”, which includes the economically weak and the socially and the educationally backward classes.
“I want to listen to the sorrow of those who suffered and also explore solutions in consultation with them. I want to dedicate a substantial time, following the lifting of the lockdown, to spend it with my brothers and sisters who need me, my strength and my voice. I want to do this in a non-partisan manner and would like to speak to people belonging to various sections and also to people belonging to different backgrounds and political affiliations. I want to do this as a Kannadiga doing it for his brothers and sisters who are in pain,” his statement read.
He clarified that he is not doing this for “political advantage” and asked the Congress party workers to “not make it a party affair”.
DKShi added that he would soon be submitting a detailed plan of his endeavour in a few days, taking into account the govt’s plans regarding the lifting of the lockdown.
