DPI proposes public examination module for class VII or VIII

Bengaluru: The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is considering re-introducing the old public examination module for Class VII or Class VIII in order to improve the learning levels of the students studying in the state syllabus schools.

Speaking to reporters, S R Umashankar, principal secretary, Department of Public Instruction (DPI) informed that once this public examination system is re-introduced, the students can be retained. Presently, the state government is following a no-retention policy till SSLC.

“As per the proposal, a student can be retained for two times between Class V and VIII, if they fail to perform well in academics,” he said, adding that a discussion in this regard is being held at the officers level.
