Bengaluru: Manu, a driver from Kamakshipalya, who went missing months ago has been found dead at Koratagere. He is said to have been hacked to death using lethal weapons.
Manu, 30, originally hailing from Hebbur in Tumakuru. He had shifted to Kamakshipalya and was working as a driver for his younger brother of JDS MLA Gopalaiah, who represents Mahalakshmi Layout.
It is said that Manu and Pallavi, daughter of his employer had fallen in love with each other and had later eloped and got married. Soon after the incident, Manu was declared rowdy-sheeter at Kamakshipalya police station and five cases including one of abduction were registered against him. Manu was arrested by the cops, but he managed to get bail. About two to three months ago, Manu and Pallavi had gone missing fearing for life and Manu had later released two selfie videos, in which is clearly talking about possible threats to his life.
In his second video, he is seen saying that he deserves to be given a chance to live his life. He makes a mention about a Kiran, alleging that the man is trying to kill him.
However, what seems suspicious is that in his first video, he alleges the police of joining hands with the powerful and in his second video, he apologises for having made derogatory statements against the police.
While the suspicion pinpointed at Pallavi’s paternal uncle and JDS MLA Gopalaiah, he is quoted in news18 saying that he is in no way connected to the crime and that he and his brother (Pallavi’s father) had parted ways about 12 years ago. “I do not wish to be dragged into this issue. If they had life threat, they should have gone to the police for security,” Gopalaiah said.
