A woman commuter in Bengaluru was fined Rs 500 after a video of her eating inside a metro coach went viral on social media. She had boarded the metro from Madavara station and was headed toward Magadi Road on Saturday when another passenger recorded her actions.

The clip, which circulated widely online, captured the woman seated on a bench inside the train, eating from what appeared to be her lunchbox.

Responding to the incident, metro security officials acted promptly. The woman was intercepted at Madavara station on Sunday morning and penalized for violating metro guidelines.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) emphasized that eating or drinking inside the metro premises is strictly forbidden to maintain hygiene and avoid littering issues.

“Passengers are expected to follow the metro’s code of conduct to ensure a clean, safe, and pleasant journey for everyone,” an official said.

Authorities reminded the public that the metro is a communal space, and any breach of rules could disrupt the commuting experience for others.

BMRCL continues to urge riders to comply with regulations and assist in preserving the metro environment for the benefit of all.
