EC opens helpline at Kandaya Bhavan

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Urban District Administration has opened a helpline centre here at the Kandaya Bhavana with the aim of accessing information regarding the State Assembly elections and submitting complaints.

Deputy Commissioner K A Dayananda inaugurated the centre on Thursday. The public can submit their complaints regarding Anekal, Bengaluru South, Mahadevapur, Byatarayanapur, Yalahanka, Dasarahalli and Yashvanthpur Assembly constituency.

These centres would work all 24-hours in a day. In each shift, there will be three staff at the centre and they will be provided with computer and landline phones. Three big televisions have been installed at the the centre. “Soon after receiving the complaint, information will be passed to the regional officers and they will respond to the matter,” said a staff.

The helpline numbers are: 080-22211157 or 18004250138.

One sector officer has been appointed for every 20 polling booths.Their responsibility is to make sure that election model code of conduct is followed properly and also train the staff about the use of EVMs.

There will be minimum 6 mobile squads for every constituency and vehicles have been provided. They are being managed from Election Maintenance Room. For their maintenance, the Election Commission is developing a separate mobile application. Police and Excise officials check any suspicious vehicles. There will be many checkpoints for this, Dayanand said.
