Bengaluru: The Department of Public Instruction (DPI), which is under pressure following inordinate delay in the RTE admission process this year due to various issues including technical glitches will finally allot the first round of seats on Friday.
According to the communication sent by the DPI, primary and secondary education minister Tanveer Sait will kick start the first round seat allotment process on Friday at 3 pm through online lottery.
This year, a record number of 2.10 lakh students have applied for 25% free seats available under Right to Education (RTE) act in the private unaided non-minority schools. April 15 was the last date for the submission of applications.
According to the officials, there was slight delay in the lottery following delay in the verification of all the applications. “For the first time RTE applications has crossed 2 lakh mark. Each application must be verified to ensure that only eligible children get seats,”said an officer from DPI.
