Eight deaths take state’s COVID toll past 100; 204 new positive cases reported

Bengaluru: As many as 204 people tested positive for COVID-29 and eight people succumbed taking the state’s tally to 7734 and death toll to 102.

Of the eight deaths, five are reported from Bengaluru Urban and one each from Shivamogga, Bidar, and Ballari. Six of the deceased had underlying illnesses. The deceased from Bidar, a 26-year-old man had complained of a fever and was admitted to a hospital on June 5. He died on June 15.

The deceased from Ballari, a 65-year-old man was brought dead to the hospital on June 16. The state health department has not revealed any other information about the patient in the bulletin.

The break-up of the other cases are: Bengaluru Urban (55), Yadagir (37), Ballari (29), Kalaburagi (19), Bidar (12), Dakshina Kannada (8), Dharwad (8), Mandya (7), Hassan (5), Udupi (4), Bagalkot (4), Shivamogga (4), Davanagere (3), Chikkaballapura (3), Uttara Kannada (3), Raichur (1), Mysuru (1), and Bengaluru Rural (1).

There are a total of 2824 active COVID-19 cases in the state and there are 72 patients in the ICU. Additionally, four patients died of non-COVID causes.
