Bengaluru: Eight people who were stuck in a lift at St Mark’s Cathedral near Anil Kumble Circle in Cubbon Park police limits were rescued by firemen on Saturday.
Among the eight people who were stuck for nearly two hours in the lift, two were children.
The incident occured on Saturday night. According to sources, the lift got jammed due to a technical problem. Immediately, church authorities called Fire and Emergency personnel, who rushed to the spot and found that the lift was stuck between the ground and first floors.
A fire officer said, “We had to break a part of the wall on the first floor to get the people out safely.”
A mechanic, summoned to fix the problem, helped the fire personnel in bringing the lift down.
