The Ejipur Elevated Corridor project in Bengaluru, which has been plagued by delays for seven years, has hit another snag. A dispute between BBMP engineers and the new contractor, BSCPL, over rent payment for the casting yard has further slowed down the work.
Despite Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s orders to expedite the project, only 10% of the work has been completed so far. The contractor claims that BBMP owes them ₹1.92 crore in rent, while corporation officials argue that the responsibility lies with the contractor.
The project has faced numerous hurdles, including a stalled flyover construction for four years, requiring technical advice from the Indian Institute of Science. The contractor has also complained about delayed payments and non-clearance of bills.
In a recent development, the contractor has paid the owed rent by cheque, and Minister Ramalingareddy has intervened to resolve the issue. However, the project’s timeline remains uncertain, leaving commuters and citizens frustrated with the repeated delays.
