BENGALURU: A tragic accident near Byatarayanapura Junction claimed the lives of a mother and her teenage daughter on Friday afternoon when a car driven by a man in his 70s crashed into them.

The victims, identified as Nagamma (40) and her daughter Prabhadevi (16), were walking along the pavement when the driver lost control, veered off the road, and fatally struck them at around 12:15 PM.

Police revealed that the elderly driver, who has a heart condition and a pacemaker, was in shock following the incident. He has been detained, and medical tests are underway to determine the cause of the mishap.

Nagamma and Prabhadevi, originally from Challakere in Chitradurga, had been residing in Byatarayanapura. A case has been registered at Hebbal traffic police station, and further investigations are ongoing.
