Bengaluru: The empty grenade found at the city railway station platform no 1 belonges to the Indian Army.

According to Bhimashankar Guled, SP, Railways, the investigation confirmed that the grenade belongs to the Indian army. “It is simulated hand grenade used for the training purposes,” he said.

“These empty grenades were being transported from Bengaluru to another place by the Army officers in a wooden box. At that time the grenade fell on the platform,” he said adding that the incident has been brought to the notice of the Indian army.

“The Army will continue the investigation,” he said.

It can be recalled that on May 31, the passengers had alerted the railway police about the grenade in the platform no 1, which sent shock waves across the state. Railway movement was disrupted on platform 1 and 2 for over two hours. Patna bound Sangha Mitra express was totally checked for the explosives.
