Bangalore: Kannada actor Rebel Star Ambareesh passed at the age of 66 on November 24. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Bengaluru after suffering a heart attack.
The actor, who was fondly called as Ambi by his fans and well-wishers, came to limelight with Puttana Kanagal’s Nagarahaavu where he played the role of a Jaleela. He acted in over 200 movies in a career spanning over five decades. He is survived with actress wife Sumalatha and son Abhishek.
Malavalli Huchche Gowda Amarnath was born on 29 May 1952 known popularly by screen name Ambareesh was also a politician. He was an MLA with the Indian National Congress party, winning the assembly election of the Mandya constituency, Member of Parliment and a Minister in the State Government.
Besides winning many State Government awards and Filmfare awards for his acting career, Ambareesh was honoured with the honorary doctorate from the Dharwad university in 2013 at their 63rd annual convocation ceremony.
His last movie was Ambi Ning Vayassaytho, which turned out to be a successful movie at the box office.
