A 44-year-old English professor, Shabana, from a private college in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, attempted suicide by consuming over 10 pills in her classroom on Monday morning. She collapsed around 9:45 am but was saved by staff and students who rushed her to a hospital.

Upon recovery, Shabana informed the police that she had been “harassed” by the college principal and other staff members. Following her attempt, the hospital submitted a Medico Legal Case (MLC) report to the authorities.

An investigation revealed that Shabana was undergoing an internal inquiry after being accused of sharing information about a colleague with a third party. As a result, she faced demotion from her position, which she learned about on the day of her suicide attempt.
