Bengaluru: An estranged husband has been booked by the HAL Police for allegedly stalking, assaulting and mentally harassing his wife by sending unwanted late-night food deliveries, defamatory emails and death threats.
The complainant, a 36-year-old resident of Whitefield, alleged that the harassment continued over several years following the breakdown of their marriage.
Woman alleges years of abuse
According to the complaint, the woman married Nitin Gupta in Delhi in December 2013. Within months of the marriage, she alleged that he began subjecting her to continuous physical and mental abuse, forcing her to leave the matrimonial home in December 2022.
She further alleged that Gupta illegally obtained her call detail records to track her movements and circulated her private photographs among relatives, apartment security guards and domestic staff. He also allegedly sent defamatory emails to residents of her apartment complex in an attempt to tarnish her reputation.
Late-night deliveries and threats
The woman told police that her estranged husband repeatedly sent unwanted food parcels through online delivery platforms, particularly during late-night hours, to intimidate and harass her.
She also alleged that he used the name of one of her childhood friends to cast aspersions on her character and attempted to persuade others to spread false allegations against her.
According to the complaint, the harassment intensified after she obtained an interim maintenance order from a Gurugram court in April 2025. She alleged that Gupta pressured her to withdraw pending domestic violence cases and threatened her inside the court premises.
Police register case
The woman further claimed that Gupta violated court orders by entering her residential complex, hiding near her apartment with a screwdriver and attempting to attack her. She also alleged that he recently pushed her down a staircase before fleeing, an incident for which a case had already been registered at Kadugodi Police Station.
Based on her complaint, the HAL Police have registered a case against Nitin Gupta and launched an investigation. Police said further inquiries are underway to verify the allegations and collect evidence.
