Bengaluru: Former deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwar’s house and other properties were raided by a team of Income Tax (IT) department officials on Thursday, October 10.

Sources speaking to News18 said that the raids were conducted on nearly 30 locations linked to Dr Parameshwar, who is currently facing charges for his alleged connections with a Trust that has been involved in a medical admissions scam.

The incident also sparked a strong reaction from senior Congress leaders of the state.

Parameshwar’s Siddharth Group of Institutions, located in Tumakuru, was also subjected to search and seizure operations by a four-member IT Department team.

Speaking to reporters, Parameshwar said, “I don’t know where they are doing it. Let them search, I have no issue. If there is any fault from our side, we will rectify it.”

Calling it “politically motivated”, Karnataka Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Siddaramaiah tweeted, “They are only targeting @INCKarnataka leaders as they have failed to face us on policy and corruption issues. We won’t budge to any such tactics.”

A medical college and hospital in Kolar owned by former Union Minister R L Jalappa were also raided.
