Bengaluru: Owing to the Coronavirus scare, the examinations for school students in Classes 7, 8 and 9 in Karnataka will be postponed until after March 31, informed Education Minister S Suresh Kumar, on Sunday.

He said that while the exams for Class 10 and PUC will continue as per the schedule, the dates of examination for Class 7, 8 and 9 will be announced soon.

It may be recalled that a week-long lockdown has been imposed across the state by the government on Saturday, in  bid to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

The shut down will be reviewed at the end of the week, said the CM after issuing order in this regard on Friday evening.

According to this, all schools, malls, pubs, theatres etc will be closed down.

The state has seen six positive cases of coronavirus so far, while one 76-year-old man from Kalaburgi died after being tested positive.
