Bengaluru: Excise minister H Nahesh announced that the excise department has dropped the proposal of launching mobile liquor shops in the Lambani tandas and also apologised for proposing the home delivery liquor.
It all started when minister Nagesh announced that, to increase the excise revenue, the department is planning to launch a home delivery service for liquor across the state. Under the scheme, all those who get an ID card from the Deputy Commissioner’s office are eligible to get a supply of liquor to their homes.
After the announcement received widespread criticism, the minister apologised for proposing such a scheme and announced that it will be dropped.
According to sources Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa directed Nagesh to withdraw the statement as it created an embarrassing situation for the government.
