Bengaluru: The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) is soon to be the first airport in India to have paperless air travel, with your face replacing the traditional boarding pass.
According to a statement issued by the BIAL, an agreement to launch this end-to-end solution for paperless travel has been signed by the BIAL, operators of the Bengaluru Airport and Vision-Box.
The statement adds that in this first milestone implementation at Bengaluru Airport for the paperless biometric self-boarding technology that is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2019, the passengers of Jet Airways, Air Asia and SpiceJet will be the first to use this technology.
From registration to boarding, the biometric technology will simplify travel by identifying a passenger’s face as they move across the airport, thereby, avoiding repeated stops and displaying of boarding passes, passports and any other identity documents, according to the statement.
