Bengaluru: A conman in the name of an army commander has looted lakhs of rupees from victims by promising them the best deals on some of the products on OLX.

OLX which is the largest online classified advertisement company was the platform chosen by the anonymous culprit to trap people in which HAL employee Prashanth and employee of private company Yogish were fooled simultaneously.

The culprit had updated a fake address of an army commander and had also used the army logo.

Believing it to be a genuine profile, Prashanth wanted to purchase a two wheeler for Rs 30000 which was originally Rs 80000. Prashanth believed it to be a good deal and transferred the money online.

On the other end, Yogish wanted to purchase a DSLR camera for which the culprit had tagged a price of Rs 20000. He too went on to purchase through online payment.

Later, both realised that it was a trap and immediately filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime police.

The culprit is yet to be traced.
