Bengaluru: Sunil Kumar, a 23-year-old youth from Upparpet and his family members were elated to know that he had topped the police constable examination held in Bengaluru during last January.

But, the happiness did not last for long as Upparpet police held Sunil, along with a government school teacher and his cousin on the charges that Sunil had topped the examination that he never wrote!

The accused in the case are Sunil Kumar, his relative Umesh, 33, a teacher from KR Nagar who impersonated him, and Manjunath, a cousin who facilitated the crime.

Kumar, reportedly only cleared the physical fitness test and qualified for theory exam at Home Science College last January.

An academically weak Kumar sought help from his cousin Manjunath, a high school math teacher in KR Nagar. Manjunath approached his relative Umesh and the trio hatched a plan for Umesh to write the exam instead of Kumar.
Plans was a smash hit to the extent that Umesh wrote the exam and Kumar emerged as topper! Everything was fine, till Upparpete police received an anonymous letter revealing the entire goof up.

A probe was initiated and it was found that the thumb impressions of the applicant did not match that of the person who wrote the exam. Kumar’s appointment order was withheld, and he was arrested along with Manjunath and Umesh.
