Bengaluru: A software engineer on Saturday was attacked and robbed two men posing as policemen on NICE Road near Talaghattapura.

Varun (27), a resident of Nagarbhavi and employed in a reputed IT company and his girlfriend had gone on a long drive after dinner on Saturday.

The accused took the victim to an ATM near Talaghattapura police station and forced him to withdraw Rs. 60,000.

Varun in his complaint alleged that he had parked his car on the roadside of the expressway at around 6.30 p.m. and the couple were chatting. Two men slowed their vehicle on seeing the couple. They alighted from the car and knocked on their window. When Varun lowered the window, one of the miscreants allegedly claimed to be a cop in mufti on rounds and forced him to get out of the car.

When Varun stepped out, the duo reportedly threatened to book a case against him. By the time Varun could comprehend their threats, another miscreant approached him and asked for money to settle the case. As per the deal, one of them accompanied Varun in the car to the ATM. He later took the cash and sped away with the associate, who was following him in another car.

Varun was suspicious about the accused and soon approached the jurisdictional police and filed a complaint. A theft case has been registered against the duo.
