Bengaluru: Demanding immediate revival of the Mysuru Sugar Factory, farmers from Mandya held a padayatra to Bengaluru.
The padayatra that began on December 7, culminated on Friday December 11, at Freedom Park Bengaluru. Sugarcane cultivation being the lifeline of farmers in Mandya, the non-functioning of the unit has put the lives of thousands of farmers dependent on it in danger.

Earlier on December 7, the 100-km-long padayatra was flagged off by leader of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha KS Puttannaiah, who is also MLA from Melkote Assembly segment, in front of the statue of agricultural scientist Leslie C. Coleman on the premises of the sugar company.

General Secretary of the Sangha Badagalapura Nagendra, Organizing Secretary KS Nanjundegowda and Vice-President Ramakrishna were present among others.
