Hosur: Central and state government which spends crores of money over different schemes and projects, seemed to be caring less for the distress of the farmers in Karnataka. This lack of empathy was seen when the farmers who applied for compensation after their crops were destroyed by unexpected showers in the state received less than Rs 2000 as compensation.
In K R Taluk, due to heavy downpour, crops grown by farmers, after having spent a huge amount of money, were destroyed. When they applied for compensation, the government through Taluk adminsitration gave them a cheque of Rs 2000.
Farmers who spend lakhs of money for agriculture with the help of bank loans were expecting the government to help them. They had also spent thousands of money when applying for compensation providing RTC, Photo, Adhar card, ration card and many more documents. Sadly, the government gave only a cheque of Rs 2000 which is less than money spent by farmers for applying for compensation.
