Three individuals en route to Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport for a flight to Goa tragically died after their car hit the median and collided with another vehicle on NICE Road near Kengeri on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Nanje Gowda, 45, Kumar, 35, and Vinod, 41, all from Kanakapura town in Karnataka’s Ramanagara district. Vinod was a zilla panchayat member.

The accident occurred around 3:45 pm. According to police, Kumar was driving a Mahindra Scorpio at approximately 160 km/h when he lost control. The vehicle grazed the median, toppled onto the other side, and crashed into a Mahindra XUV700 traveling in the opposite direction.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M N Anucheth reported that the Scorpio’s speedometer was found stopped at 164 km/h. The Scorpio lacked airbags, contributing to the fatalities, whereas the XUV700’s airbags deployed, saving its occupants’ lives.

Shivaramakrishna and Prasanna, who were in the XUV700, sustained injuries.

In another incident, a 42-year-old man named Devaraj from Kunigal in Tumakuru district died after a minibus collided with a parked truck near Electronics City. Five others in the minibus were injured.
