A tragic incident unfolded in Bengaluru on Sunday, resulting in the death of one man and severe injuries to two others, after their motorcycle veered off the road and fell into a pit being excavated for a water pipeline, according to police reports.

The accident claimed the life of one biker on the spot, while the two others remain in critical condition. Police investigations suggest that the rider failed to notice the deep pit, leading to the unfortunate mishap.

Locals who promptly rushed the injured victims to the hospital criticized civic authorities for not adequately barricading the pit or installing signboards to divert riders’ attention from the hazard.

However, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) countered these allegations, claiming that barricades were indeed in place. The BWSSB further alleged that the three men involved in the accident were intoxicated, implying that their impaired judgment led them to overlook the warning signs.

The conflicting accounts highlight a dispute over the implementation of safety measures and raise questions about the responsibility for preventing such accidents in the future.
