A devastating accident on the Bengaluru-Hindupur Highway led to the deaths of 40-year-old Venkatesh Murthy and his eight-year-old daughter after a KSRTC bus ran over them near Doddaballapura Rural police limits.
The incident unfolded late Wednesday morning, between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Venkatesh was traveling on a two-wheeler with his daughter, another child, and his mother-in-law, heading toward Bengaluru.
While attempting to overtake an APSRTC bus, the bike’s handle brushed against the bus, causing the vehicle to wobble and throwing all four passengers onto the road. Tragically, a following KSRTC bus struck Venkatesh and his daughter.
Venkatesh succumbed to his injuries instantly, while the child was rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be saved. The other two passengers sustained only minor injuries.
Authorities have filed a case against Venkatesh and both bus drivers. Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash, which highlights the dangers of overtaking in high-traffic areas.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and caution on highways, especially when traveling with family members on two-wheelers.
