Bengaluru: On April 5, 2017, Yashvant, one-and-half-year-old toddler, son of Hanumanta and Susheela who had migrated from Markata village in Koppala district to Garudacharyapalya under the Mahadevapura police limits was found murdered. The couple took the body to their native village for the final rites. As a few locals expressed suspicion about the cause of death, the mother of the child approached Bevur police and had lodged a complaint. A postmortem was conducted at the Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences.
As the incident was reported from the Mahadevapura police limits, the Bevur police had re-directed the complaint to the Mahadevapura police station. Recently the authorities of the Koppal Medical College informed the police that the toddler was murdered by smothering.
On Thursday the police arrested the father of the toddler Hanumanta for murdering his son. According to the police, there were hardly any leads. “But at the time of investigation Hanumata’s wife had informed that before the death of her son, her husband was fighting with her stating he is not the father of the kid.
But after the death, he stopped fighting. Based on this lead we continued the investigation. Hanumanta confessed to the crime,” police added.
