Bengaluru: Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot will take the grand steps of the Vidhana Soudha to address a joint session of the Legislative Assembly on Monday February 14, making him the first in the State to do so in many years.
Speaking to mediapersons Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said, “Governors used the elevator to enter the Assembly for many years, for various reasons. We requested the Governor to take the grand steps and enter the Assembly Hall this time. He has agreed.”
The session will begin on February 14 and end on February 25.
Gehlot will be accompanied by the Mysuru and City Armed Reserve police bands, as well as the equestrian squad.
After Gehlot’s address, Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah has called a meeting of party legislators on February 14.
According to Kageri, the Assembly Secretariat has received 2,062 questions from legislators, 81 calling attention notices, and 31 Rule 351 notices. ‘We have also received two bills,’ he added, referring to the Karnataka Stamps (Amendment) Bill and the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill.
