As Bengaluru’s notorious traffic brought commuters to a standstill on Thursday, one resident’s wry suggestion struck a chord online.

Sharing a photo of a relentless jam near Kundalahalli, the user posted on X: “If you’re anywhere near Kundalahalli, leave your vehicle at home and just walk to office. You’ll probably reach faster on foot. Plus, the weather’s great. Watch out for gaps on the footpath—stay safe!”

The remark, though tongue-in-cheek, captured widespread frustration over the city’s crumbling infrastructure. Kundalahalli, a busy IT corridor linking Whitefield, Marathahalli, and Brookefield, experiences peak-hour chaos almost daily, worsened by narrow roads and perpetual construction.

While some social media users agreed with the advice to walk, others pointed out the irony. “Where is the footpath?” one user asked. Another noted, “Even if footpaths exist, they’re encroached by vendors.”

Many residents chimed in with tales of gridlock from across Bengaluru, including a 20-minute crawl near Goraguntepalya Ring Road.

Meanwhile, impatience is also growing over Namma Metro’s delayed Yellow Line. Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya has launched a countdown to the promised August 15 opening, urging citizens to hold BMRCL accountable.

Despite civil works nearing completion, the project has repeatedly missed deadlines, leaving commuters dependent on jam-packed buses and shrinking sidewalks. With no relief in sight, for many, walking really is the only option left.
