Bengaluru: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths have registered an FIR against three suspended CCB police officers under the provisions of the anti-corruption act.
The government took as many as 20 days to permit as it was under immense pressure not to hand over the case to the ACB.
According to the sources, on Thursday, ACB registered FIR against suspended officials Prabhushankar, Ajay and Niranjana Kumar. They are already able to secure a bail.
They are facing the charges of collecting huge sum of money from the gutka, cigarette, pan masala and fake mask suppliers.
According to the sources, the state police department and home department accorded permission for ACB investigation against these three immediately after the incident came to light.
However, home minister Basavaraj Bommai delayed his approval as he was under immense pressure from a section of BJP leaders not to act tough against these three, said sources.
However fearing public criticism, now the minister has accorded permission.
