Bengaluru: A section has alleged All India Mahila Empowerment Party founder president Nauhera Sheikh of cheating them by collecting blank cheques from them in the name of accumulating party funds.

A case has been registered against Sheikh and five others at Jeevan Bhimanagar. The police sources have said that the complainants claimed to be candidates of the party. An FIR has been registered in this regard

Ajjaiah H, in his complaint said that Sheikh, who had promised a ticket from Hagaribommanahalli, asked him to be a part of the party convention held at Hotel Leela Palace.

She had kept forth a demand for Rs 28 lac stating that it was towards the election expenses. She had then reportedly demanded Rs 50,000 towards party funds and assured that B-Form would be given only to those who meet the financial requirements. Since she had announced the same during the convention, Ajjaiah had done the same, he said in the complaint

He further alleged that Nauhera then asked for blank cheques, promising to pay back Rs 2 cr. Ajjaiah had said that he fell for all of her talks and did as directed.

He said that later, when he tried to contact Nauhera, she avoided him by citing lame reasons. The complaint states that Nauhera even threatened him of dire consequences if he demanded for his money.

Nauhera also faces charges of giving B-Form to multiple candidates for one constituency, he said.

However, MEP state advisory committee member Vandana has refuted the charges. Speaking to The New Indian Express, she said that the allegations are baseless. She called it an attempt to tarnish Sheikh’s image.
