A devastating fire in an under-construction building on Bengaluru’s outskirts claimed two lives on Thursday. The victims, Uday Bhan (40) from Uttar Pradesh and Roshan (26) from Bihar, were unable to escape the sudden blaze.
The fire broke out around 11:10 AM in a four-story building near Madanayakanahalli. Fire and emergency services swiftly dispatched three fire tenders to the scene. The building, where Plaster of Paris (POP) work was in progress, contained highly flammable materials like varnish, plywood, and plastic.
Eight labourers were inside at the time. While five managed to escape, one took refuge on the rooftop water tank and was later rescued using a ladder. Tragically, two workers were found dead on the upper floors after the fire was doused.
Authorities suspect a short circuit or welding spark as the possible cause. Madanayakanahalli police have launched an investigation to determine the exact reason behind the fire.
